Learn the ABCs of MCing from Bastard Keith, the drunken reprobate who has worked stages from the New York Burlesque Festival to the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend. In a friendly, constructive atmosphere, we'll discuss such basics as: -WHY ON EARTH DO YOU WANT TO DO THIS? -Your persona and gimmick (if you can bring your gimmick with you, do) -Vocal and physical confidence -Kicking things off with a bang -Keeping the energy up while the stage kitten is picking up (or sweeping up or even mopping up) -When to do crowd work and when to seriously shut the hell up -Etiquette towards your fellow artists both onstage and off -Making sure your hosting is intersectional and not being a crappy ally This is a good workshop for anyone interested in the art of the MC, from beginners to people who want to see Keith trip over his own words for once.
